15 Alternative Superhero And Comic Book Movies You Must See

14. The Rocketeer (1991)

The Rocketeer is a classic adventure movie set in late 1930s America, shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Cliff Secord is a cocky stunt pilot who, following the destruction of his prized stunt plane, happens to stumble across a stolen prototype jet pack.

Of course, rather than return this dangerous contraption to its rightful owner, Cliff decides to learn to fly the rocket-powered back-pack, ultimately becoming a mysterious local hero known as "The Rocketeer". Unfortunately for Cliff, his exploits attract unwanted attention from the mob and, of course, the Nazis show up for good measure.

This movie is a whole lot of fun and whilst the special effects are dated, they're still convincing and the action holds up pretty well. There's also an engrossing story driving everything forward and the whole experience has that exciting Indiana Jones adventure vibe.

The Rocketeer is an underrated gem of a film and one that deserves your attention. Oh, and that helmet is as iconic as they get.
