When the fate of the world took over from worries of missing potions class, many of the superfluous elements of Potter were dropped from the films, first amongst them the Dursleys. Harry's spiteful family were a delight in the early movies, and seeing them back of the start of the penultimate movie was, if anything, a necessity. These scenes would have only made their brief cameo better, actively paying off a plot thread began almost ten years previously.
