15 Awesome Horror Movies With Lower Critical Scores Than They Deserve

Pet Sematary (2019). Life. Jaws 2. Brightburn. 28 Weeks Later. Apostle. Triangle. Piranha 3D. Prometheus. Halloween: H20 Years Later. Hold the Dark. The Hunt. Happy Death Day 2U. The Platform. Would You Rather? Paranormal Activity. Paranormal Activity 2. Alien: Covenant. Little Joe. The Pact.

All of those are lacklustre horror movies... and all of them have higher Rotten Tomatoes scores than this modern horror classic. Just let that sink in.

Saw, similarly to the aforementioned The Devils, seems to have mainly been criticised for its nihilistic and brutal story, which is ridiculous. Saw is very violent and some will understandably find the film too brutal, but there is a lot of great stuff in Saw that shouldn't be overlooked even if it isn't your kind of thing.

The dialogue is hit-or-miss and the two lead performances are terrible, but Saw's brilliant plot, endless suspense and stylish directing more than overshadow those flaws. It's easily the best of the Saw franchise, as well as one of the most powerful, smart and thrilling horror films of the 2000s.

Still, it has the high score it deserves (7.6) on IMDb, so that's something.
