15 Awesome Horror Movies With Lower Critical Scores Than They Deserve

1. Final Destination

Saw Fresh
New Line Cinema

Rotten Tomatoes: 35% (Average Score: 4.73/10)

Metacritic: 36

Is this a f**king joke?

The low scores for Final Destination, a 2000s horror classic, undermines the credibility of Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic; in fact, the RT score is probably one of the worst, most unjust ratings on the entire site.

Final Destination isn't high art and it was never trying to be. Since it's light on drama and based around gore it's an acquired taste but like with Saw, there's still plenty of things that deserve praise even if you don't relate to it that much.

The death scenes are brilliant, the plot is endlessly entertaining and suspenseful, it has a more fleshed-out cast of characters than any of the successors did (which is why this remains the best FD movie despite the sequels being surprisingly good) and it's very well-made too.

It's not a masterpiece. The dialogue and acting are inconsistent but still, the endless thrills and strong performances from Devon Sawa and Tony Todd make up for that.

These ratings might be outdated since Final Destination is reasonably well-regarded now but still, this remains the epitome of a horror film that critics were far too harsh on.
