15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)
5. Late Night
Release Date: June 7
The Plot: The host of a flailing late-night talk show (Emma Thompson) hires a younger female writer (Mindy Kaling) to help save the program.
Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Late Night premiered at Sundance earlier this year to largely positive reviews, which consistently praised the chemistry between Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling, and also Kaling's wryly funny script.
While Dark Phoenix will be delivering the unintentional laughs on June 7, Late Night releases the same day and seems like a far more successful offering in terms of actually accomplishing its tonal and creative goals.
As a woke comedy releasing in a time where discussions about inclusion and gender equality are more prevalent then ever, this truly feels like a movie for 2019.
