15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)

2. Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Where D You Go Bernadette Cate Blanchett
United Artists

Release Date: August 9

The Plot: Based on Maria Semple's 2012 New York Times bestseller about the titular misanthropic woman, Bernadette Fox (Cate Blanchett), who disappears from her family home without a trace.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Two words: Richard Linklater. You're pretty much always getting quality when the Boyhood director is involved, and though the first trailer for the movie, er, wasn't great, one suspects the film is being marketed as cynically as possible for purely commercial reasons.

Combining acclaimed source material with Linklater's own humanist sensibilities and a killer ensemble cast also including Billy Crudup, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer and Laurence Fishburne, there are plenty of reasons to have faith in the end product.
