15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)

1. Wine Country

Release Date: May 10

The Plot: A group of longtime girlfriends head to Napa Valley to celebrate a 50th birthday, and soon enough, unspoken tensions bubble to the surface.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Wine Country is Amy Poehler's feature directorial debut, while working from a script by Emily Spivey (The Last Man on Earth) and Liz Cackowski (Community). Best of all? It's releasing direct to Netflix.

Poehler will star among an enormously talented ensemble cast including Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Cherry Jones and Jason Schwartzman, in what should hopefully be a deliciously acidic comedy-of-errors.

It's already been confirmed that the tone is of the R-rated variety, so between that and Netflix's hands-off approach to their filmmakers, this should be a no-holds barred feminist comedy.

Which of these non-blockbuster movies are you most looking forward to this summer? Shout them out in the comments!
