15 Awesome Summer 2017 Movies You Probably Missed

6. To The Bone

To The Bone Lily Collins
Netflix

The Plot: 20-year-old Ellen (Lily Collins) battles anorexia with the help of a doctor's (Keanu Reeves) unconventional methods.

Why It's Awesome: Here's a film that benefits tremendously from the real-life experiences of its writer-director Marti Noxon, who based the film in part off her own youth.

Lily Collins gives a fiercely committed performance in the lead role of this deeply intimate drama, probing deep into the struggles of someone suffering with an eating disorder.

It ain't pretty, but it sure shouldn't be either, and bar a few sentimental missteps, it's another smart addition to Netflix's fast-growing library of thoughtful indies you'd otherwise need to travel to a big city to watch.
