12. Priest (2011) - Paul Bettany
RottenTomatoes Score: 16% The Plot: After his niece (Lily Collins) is kidnapped by vampires, a peaceful Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) breaks his pacifist vow in order to save her. Why It Sucks: Just like Bettany's collaboration with Scott Stewart from the previous year, Legion, this is an undeniably well-made but ultimately soulless action flick which mechanically goes through the silly action beats, but takes itself far too seriously to actually be any fun. To Bettany's credit, he doesn't just coast for the sake of a big payday: he tries his damnedest to make the risible dialogue work, but after seeing him play three religious zealot characters in the span of five years (the other being in The Da Vinci Code), there was a lot of relief when the actor made this one his last. Not a total embarrassment on his part, but not something he likely enjoys being reminded of either.
