15 Best Animated Movie Moments Of The Decade
1. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - All The Spideys Together
There were so many great moments in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, that were it not for the limit of one per film, it would have dominated here. Easily the best animated movie of the decade and a strong contender for best of the decade full stop, it was always going to come out on top here.
Stan Lee’s heartbreaking cameo could have made the cut, along with the ‘leap of faith’ moment, Doc Ock’s reveal or the various montages. When you get this many excellent characters together though, the selling point is the Spideys themselves. When we first meet Peni, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir, the film is just about ready to peak.
The first time we see all six of them in madcap action, it gets there.
The animation in the film is world class, throwing together the distinct styles of the different Spideys with note perfect design choices. It becomes even more of a visual smorgasbord once the universe starts to implode, but it never gets overwhelming.
Quite the opposite: the whole movie is an absolute delight to watch, and will hopefully have a huge influence on the risks animation should take moving into the next decade.
