6. The Ending - Batman: The Killing Joke
The long-awaited R-rated adaptation of Alan Moore's classic graphic novel may have fallen rather short of its potential for the most part, but it's hard to deny that they totally nailed that grim, ambiguous ending.
Torn straight from the comic, the scene has The Joker explaining his iconic joke about two men escaping from an insane asylum, and once he's delivered the punchline, both The Joker and Batman start laughing hysterically.
The Joker's laughter eventually fades out while Bats keeps laughing and we fade to black. Some naturally believe this to imply Batman killing The Joker, but as ever, it's up to the fans to debate the point forever more.
For all of the things this adaptation got wrong, this final scene was basically flawless.
