15 Best Ever Robot Sci-Fi Movies

2. A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Westworld Yul Brynner
DreamWorks

Artificial Intelligence is an ambitious science fiction story from director Stephen Spielberg. Quite fittingly, it was dedicated to Stanley Kubrick who originally tried to develop the film.

In a future ravaged by global warming, the human population has been greatly reduced and partially replaced by humanoid robots known as "Mechas". When a young family's child is struck down with a deadly illness they are given a mechanical replacement called David.

When the child recovers David is cast aside, left to make his own way in an unforgiving world, with only his robotic Teddy bear for company. Haley Joel Osment is perfectly cast as the loveable child and Jude Law puts in a memorable turn as a robotic gigolo.

A.I. has spectacular visuals, an epic millennia spanning story and is one of Spielberg's best films.
