15 Best Ever Robot Sci-Fi Movies

14. RoboCop

Westworld Yul Brynner

In the year 2043, the futuristic metropolis of Detroit City descends into a world of dystopian madness, extreme crime and violence. As the struggling police force is brought to its knees, city officials sign a last-minute deal with the insidious Omni Consumer Products (OCP).

OCP is developing a method of robotic peacekeeping but after its ED-209 prototype fatally malfunctions, the company acquires the body of brutally mutilated officer Alex Murphy as a base for its new breed of law enforcement.

What follows is an ultra-violent story full of explosive action, dark humour, biting satire and classic 80s gore. It's a perfect action movie that just happens to feature two of the most iconic robot characters ever to hit the big screen.

Forget the 2014 remake nobody asked for, Paul Verhoeven's classic 1987 original is the only RoboCop worth watching.
