15 Best Ever Robot Sci-Fi Movies

10. The Transformers: The Movie

Originally conceived to sell an ingenious line of toys that transformed from everyday vehicles into fighting robots, The Transformers cartoons became incredibly popular with kids in the 80s.

Despite featuring some questionable voice acting and animation, for those of a certain age, those original shows are seen as absolute classics. The 1986 feature film perfectly encapsulates everything there is to love about The Transformers.

Explosive, exciting and depicting violent and brutal clashes between the warring factions of the Autobots and Decepticons, at times it's decidedly non-kid-friendly. At others, it's cheesy, extravagant and over the top, not to mention the killer synth and heavy metal soundtrack.

Forget Michael Bay's messy live-action re-boot series, this 80s classic is the only Transformers movie that lives up to the cartoon's legacy.
