15 Best Hans Zimmer Film Soundtracks

11. Black Hawk Down

While he is better known for scoring comic book blockbusters, a quick look through his discography will tell you that Zimmer also has a number of war film soundtracks to his name and Black Hawk Down is one of his best them.

Teaming up with Ridley Scott, just a year after Gladiator, Black Hawk Down's soundtrack was the product of a collaboration of different musicians including Zimmer, who thrashed out various pieces of music, in what was referred to as the 'War Room'.

Like all the great composers, Zimmer highly researched African music and made strong use of instruments popular in the continent in keeping with the film's Somalia setting. The end result is a soundtrack filled with tension and tragedy.

Best Track: Leave No Man Behind

While the more energetic tracks enhance the film's action sequences, it's the melancholic Leave No Man Behind that stands out the most and encapsulates the film's tone perfectly.
