15 Best Hans Zimmer Film Soundtracks

9. Gladiator

The not very historically accurate movie about Russell Crowe getting his vengeance (in this life or the next) hasn't necessarily aged as well as other Oscar Best Picture winners, but its soundtrack still holds up 20 years on.

Credit should be shared between Zimmer and the incredible voice of Lisa Gerrard, who also features on the Black Hawk Down soundtrack, as her vocals accompany a score filled with music befitting of the greatness of Ancient Rome and would be the influence for all the sword and sandals soundtracks that would follow it.

The score used during the opening battle scenes may be a poor imitation of the Pirates Of The Caribbean theme, or rather a poor first draft of it, but it's still an excellent and epic piece of music. And how could we forget Barbarian Horde, the song that plays over Crowe's immortal line: "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius."

Best Track: Now We Are Free

Could it be anything else? So beautiful, so uplifting, so iconic. Are you not entertained?
