15 Best Jump Scares In Movie History

12. The Tall Man - It Follows

This is a fantastic example of a totally unconventional jump scare that doesn't need loud noises or cheap editing to scare the viewer.

As Jay (Maika Monroe) is freaking out about being pursued by the sexually-transmitted supernatural entity known only as "it", her friends try to calm her down, insistent that she's safe.

After opening the bedroom door to another of their pals, who also insists nothing's wrong, "it" appears behind the friend, resembling an extremely tall man who calmly walks towards a distraught Jay.

The use of discordant music combined with the tall man's unexpected appearance in the dark hallway makes this uniquely unsettling, but sure to make you jump out of your seat all the same.
