10. Doctor Sleep

The sequel to The Shining was far better than anyone ever expected it to be and Doctor Sleep manages to stand on its own and be a worthy continuation of the Danny Torrance story.

Now a grown man and played by Ewan McGregor, Danny must protect a young girl with powers from a vicious cult called The True Knot who devour gifted children so they can live forever.

This host of villains is led by Rose the Hat who is played by a devilishly sadistic Rebecca Ferguson. She is suitably terrifying and makes for a wonderful antagonist, especially when you consider she is the successor to one of the greatest cinematic villains of all time in Jack Torrance.

The cult are varied in its membership as they are an assortment of people from all walks of life. The film features a particularly traumatising sequence in which the cult ravish and consume a young boy which is surprisingly graphic and visceral.

The True Knot are well developed foes and are a great addition to Stephen King's expansive list of horror icons brought to the big screen.
