9. The Invitation

After Will is invited to a dinner party by his ex-wife who he hasn't heard from in years, he discovers she and her new partner have joined a mysterious cult. The Invitation is a slow burn horror film that has gone underappreciated for a while, likely due to its methodical pacing for the first hour, but it is absolutely worth your time.

There are several layers to The Invitation with a keen focus on the characters and their pasts with one another. As guests arrive that are unknown to Will and as they begin to display strange abnormal behaviour, things start to get very weird at the dinner party.

Logan Marshall-Green plays Will, and his building frustration and confusion at what is going on around him is very compelling. He makes for a great lead as he reacts to the strange oddness of the cult members.

To say anymore more would spoil too much, but one thing worth praising is the final shot of the whole film which is fantastic and inspired.
