12. Tallulah

The Plot: After being abandoned by her boyfriend, drifter Tallulah (Ellen Page) finds herself inadvertently babysitting a boozy suburban housewife's infant daughter. Deeming her an unfit mother, Tallulah ends up taking custody of the child, opening a colossal can of worms.

This is a great example of a semi-ludicrous plot that's brought back down to Earth by its marvelous ensemble cast, especially Page as the title character and Allison Janney as her ex-boyfriend's mother, who eventually gets roped into the whole mess.

Beat-to-beat it's not exactly unpredictable, but Page's crackerjack performance deserves to be seen by more people, especially as it's arguably her best work to date, and might've merited awards consideration if Netflix actually bothered to celebrate its release.
