15 Best Performances In MCU Movies (So Far)
1. Robert Downey Jr - Iron Man
Tony Stark is basically a jerk. He's brash, arrogant, a control freak. And yet, in the hands of Robert Downey Jr, he evolves over the course of 11 films in 11 years to become something beyond a hero. He is presented as a brilliant but flawed man - something truly human.
Stark's progression and evolution is perhaps the most fully fleshed out of any character in the MCU. Robert Downey Jr has similarly evolved throughout his time playing the role. When Iron Man came out in 2008, Downey was hardly in the best stage of his career. A man all too familiar with personal troubles, he was perfectly placed to take on the role of Stark, and to turn it into something much more than a run of the mill superhero.
Downey has found himself involved in the creative process over the course of his character's arc. It's a power he has sometimes wielded for selfish purposes (i.e pushing to be the main focus of the Avengers movie), but it only goes to show his dedication to the character and the project. Much as his performance has given a lot to the MCU, Tony Stark has saved his career.
