Black Panther may be the best acted movie in the MCU, with Oscar winning luminaries like Forest Whittaker and Lupita Nyong’o among the cast. Perhaps the best performance in the film, though, is by Letitia Wright, an up and comer who, like co-star Michael B Jordan before her, looks destined for greatness.

As Shuri, sister to the titular hero, Wright plays the smartest person in pretty much any room. It’s a bright and energised performance - she’s not given a great deal of screen time, but she makes the most out of every moment of it. Wright has a natural charisma which makes this small role one of the most memorable in the film.

Wright took the role as she thought the character would be a valuable role model to young black women, With further appearances in the most recent Avengers films, she is getting more of a chance to fulfil this remit.

And assuming they follow the path of the comics, there’ll be an even greater role for Shuri and Wright to play in the future. She’s one of the UK’s most exciting young actors, and she could have one of the most exciting roles in the MCU in years to come.
