12. "London Suite In C Major" - Mortal Engines (Tom Holkenborg)

Mortal Engines
Universal

Mortal Engines may have been a boatload of nonsense, but it at least benefitted from a killer score by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL.

Holkenborg's score may perhaps be a little too similar to his face-melting compositions for Mad Max: Fury Road, but the fierce combination of orchestral swell, booming war drums and electronic elements nevertheless makes the movie's opening chase sequence an easy high-point.

Without his work, the film would be decidedly less successful as a "style over substance" affair, and though he peaks early with this surging nine-minute opening suite, the entire score is an intense treat.
