And finally, though Shirkers doesn't have nearly the same amount of buzz surrounding it as The Tale, it's scored a fleet of five-star rave reviews and went on to win the World Cinema Documentary Directing Award.

Sandi Tan's doc revolves around her attempt to make Singapore's first ever indie movie back in 1992, with the project falling apart when her American mentor ran off with all the footage.

Some 25 years later, the missing film is returned, sending Tan off on an investigation to figure out what happened and re-examine her old work. As a love letter to filmmaking and a legitimately intriguing mystery in its own right, Shirkers is said to expertly meld past and present footage to dizzying, emotional effect.

Could this be a Best Documentary nominee at next year's Oscars? We all know how much Hollywood loves movies about filmmaking.
