14. Snowpiercer
When fans found out that Snowpiercer would be getting a TV series adaptation, there was criticism over the need to remake a relatively recent film that many considered perfection without some of the elements that made it so good in the first place. And yet, the allure of the TNT series was clear because, with Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs front and center, what could go wrong?
Though it hasn't quite reached the heights of Bong Joon-Ho's film just yet, in its few episodes thus far, the series has promised to offer something a little different - and that, more than anything, makes it worth the watch. It's unapologetically ambitious in its approach and unrelenting in its attempt to impress.
Snowpiercer is dripping with potential and, in spite of its slow opening, its beginning to realise some of it. For that reason, and the sheer visual beauty of each episode, it's earned a spot on the list. The question is: Will it be able to maintain that spot come the end of the year?
