15 Best Superhero Movie Costumes Ever
8. Judge Dredd (Dredd)
For 2012's Dredd reboot, the smart decision was made to mute the costume's colours and give the title character (Karl Urban) a far grubbier and more practical attire, as indicative of the extremely dangerous nature of his employment.
In both the comics and the prior 1995 Sylvester Stallone-starring movie, Judge Dredd is brightly-coloured and comes equipped with gaudy, even tacky golden shoulder pads. Clearly that wouldn't really work in a gritty re-telling, so the suit was sensibly re-designed as a tighter tactical body-suit.
The most important part to get right, ostensibly, is the helmet, and it looks pretty much perfect. The icing on the cake, of course, is that Urban takes the vanity-free route and doesn't remove it once during the film (unlike Stallone).
