"I look around and you know what I see? Losers. But life's giving us a chance." As much humor, action, and adventure is on display here, the core of the story seems to be one of redemption. Each member of the team has a long history of criminal activities, some worse than others. While they may not start their journey with redemption in mind, that seems to be where they're headed. We know that Drax is looking for revenge after Ronan killed his family, and that Gamora has a bone to pick with Thanos and Nebula. Rocket and Groot appear to be along for the ride, while Star-Lord is hard-pressed to hold onto that Orb/Infinity Gem. Along the way, they hold the balance and fate of the galaxy in their hands, and must unite to save the day. Since this is only the beginning of the team, expect Guardians of the Galaxy to be an action-packed origin story, much like The Avengers, that's about more than just intergalactic ass-kicking.
