15 Biggest Box-Office Movie Bombs Of The Decade

Fantastic Four didn't need to be a disaster, but it became clear the project was headed for a rocky launch in the last few months before release. Josh Trank's film underwent some serious reshoots, said to make the film a bit lighter and ultimately more like the source material, which was at odds with the director's original vision.

Fans were already wary of a gritty take on the superheroes, and stories about Trank being unhappy with the finished product (which he made clear on Twitter) only served to suck the excitement out the reboot. Throw in some absolutely scathing reviews, and the film looked set to bomb.

I don't think anyone expected quite how hard Fantastic Four would crash and burn though. It only made $168 million worldwide on a $155 million budget, reportedly losing $100 million for Fox. No wonder they were eager to sell to Disney.
