15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)
3. The Generally Overstuffed Plots

Another problem all four of the films have is that they are so overstuffed. They constantly leap between different locations and groups of characters, meaning that the film's story is consistently losing momentum.
Even Kong: Skull Island, which largely took place on the titular island, suffered from this since not only did it have too many characters for its own good, but these characters were separated for much of the film and the film kept cutting between them in a rather incoherent manner.
Similarly, both the Godzilla films arguably should've just focused on Dr Serizawa and the Monarch staff, instead of leaping between two or three sets of characters.
Regarding Godzilla Vs. Kong, that also cut between far too many plot-lines and also crammed in an expedition to the Hollow Earth (a subterranean world beneath the earth's surface), meaning that the titular conflict was forgotten for large stretches of the movie.
Not only did the film feel overstuffed as a result, but it meant that the exploration of the Hollow Earth was completely rushed and such a well-realized location really deserved its own movie - an Aliens (1986)-style action-horror flick, perhaps?
Future Monster-Verse films should just stick to one collection of characters and keep things streamlined.
