15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)
2. The Bad Human Characters
This has been the biggest criticism of the Monster-Verse so far, and it's deserved too.
In fairness, characters such as Dr Ishiro Serizawa, Bryan Cranston's Joe Brody and Godzilla Vs. Kong's child character, Jia (Kaylee Hottle) have been good and many of Kong: Skull Island's characters were very engaging, but most of this franchise's other human characters haven't made much of an impact.
Few of the Monster-Verse's human characters have been very well-written or interesting and although many of them have been solidly played, that still hasn't quite compensated for the flat writing. For example, Godzilla: King of the Monster's Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) was well-played but still not very interesting or well-developed.
Godzilla Vs. Kong hadn't learnt from this past mistake either, since most of the human characters in it were monumentally uninteresting - especially the two lead characters, Nathan Lind (Alexander Skarsgard) and Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall).
