15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)

Even Godzilla Vs. Kong isn't a flawless victory.

There is a lot to like about Warner's Monster-Verse. It boasts stunning visuals, exceptional set-pieces, intelligent world-building and perhaps most refreshingly of all, each film functions as a standalone effort and doesn't over-indulge in setting up the sequels.

While most attempts at cinematic universes have fallen at the first hurdle, this one has actually worked and it has deserved to.

Still, it hasn't all been smooth sailing and there are a number of things that the four Monster-Verse films could've done better, especially in the writing department. More frustratingly still, these movies keep making certain mistakes over and over again.

These following fifteen things are arguably the worst mistakes that the four Monster-Verse films so far - Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla Vs. Kong - have made to date and these are problems that the future Monster-Verse films should really try to avoid.

After all, this franchise has so much going for it and by side-stepping the mistakes of the past, future sequels will be able to live up to their full potential...

15. Godzilla Vs. Kong - The Underwhelming First Battle

Godzilla 2014
Warner Bros.

First up, the showdown between Godzilla and King Kong was what the franchise was always building up to but the initial clash of these titans was something of a let-down.

This battle, which took place at sea, was heavily undermined by its bad editing, which meant that it was very hard to tell what was happening or where anyone was, and in turn it was also a lot harder to get particularly excited during this set-piece.

The later set-pieces of this flawed but solid instalment in the franchise were legitimately great and thankfully a massive step up, but it's a shame that the film couldn't have reached that level of action quality a bit earlier on.
