15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)

14. Kong: Skull Island - All The Terrible CGI

Godzilla 2014
Warner Bros.

Kong: Skull Island is a good Monster movie with a lot of things going for it; its single biggest strength was its brilliantly-done set-pieces, which were wonderfully brutal and visceral. Unfortunately, there was a major distraction throughout all of that: the film's CGI downright sucks.

None of the creatures inhabiting Skull Island look particularly good, not even Kong himself, and this is pretty jarring throughout the film's two-hour runtime. Additionally, the movie is also full of terrible green-screen effects and this all feels pretty embarrassing for a film with a budget of nearly $200 million.

It should go without saying that the film's nomination for Best Visual Effects at that year's Oscars is one of the most illogical Oscar nominations in any category in the past ten years.
