15 Biggest Questions Still Left By 2018 Movies

3. Is Michael Alive? - Halloween

Halloween Michael Myers
Universal

Halloween (2018) managed to be the best Halloween (franchise) film since, er, Halloween (1978), thanks in no small part to the decision of writers David Gordon Green, Jeff Fradley, and Danny McBride to ignore all of the other films and make this a true sequel to the original.

The franchise gets back to its roots, culminating in one last showdown between Michael and Laurie. Or is it? This is Hollywood after all, where there's always the chance of another film should one be a success, so things are conveniently left open-ended for another go-around.

At the end of the movie, Laurie, along with her daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson, have trapped Michael in the basement of the home, which they then proceed to burn down, presumably burning and killing Michael with it. Would that it were so simple. After Laurie and co have driven off, there's a final shot of the burning basement, with Michael nowhere to be seen. Then, as the credits roll, we hear what sounds like his breathing. Does this confirm he's survived, and if so, are we getting another sequel?
