11. Buckbeak's Flight (Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, 2004)
Flight - it's everybody's childhood wish. John Williams has put music to several flight sequences, and apart from those listed here, let's not forget the jetpack chase in Minority Report, the multiple dogfights in the Star Wars series, and the mostly overlooked Spielberg project Always. Harry's first flight with Buckbeak is the best scene in what many regard to be the finest Harry Potter installment of the saga. John Williams doesn't fall back on his whimsical Harry Potter celesta theme, which - for the record - was perfect for the series despite being shamefully dropped by the new composers. The maestro created new motifs for this unique moment and created a literal breath of fresh air in the franchise's soundtracks. The towering architecture of Hogwarts in that afternoon autumn light, the epic aerial shots, the great CGI Buckbeak with his sweeping elegance, and the soaring John Williams score, are sufficient elements to forgive Daniel Radcliffe's mythical variation of Leonardo DiCaprio's "king of the world" moment.
