15 Chilling Movie Villains That Are Harrowing To Watch
5. Anton Chigurh - No Country For Old Men
Anton Chigurh is pretty much the boogeyman. In the Coen Brothers' 2007 masterpiece, he's a devil walking through normal society. The only good thing that could be said about him is that he doesn't always kill absolutely everyone he encounters.
Chigurh, with his expressionless face, relatively normal stature and terrible haircut, doesn't look like much initially but quickly establishes himself as one of the 21st century's most terrifying villains. Chigurh's un-intimidating appearance hides his visceral physicality, considerable strength and seemingly unstoppable nature; he's a very real threat who carries high stakes, but he's also an emotionless sociopath who is intensely disturbing.
The lack of even the slightest emotion or remorse on Chigurh's face whenever he kills someone is spine-chilling and he treats murder in a hauntingly casual manner. When he does show emotion, it's a sadistic and twisted glee that confirms him as one of the most disturbingly sick screen psychos in recent memory.
The worst thing of all is that Chigurh is an unexplained and alien figure with no vulnerability or dimension, making him an enigma that's impossible to stop, impossible to reason with and impossible to figure out. Oh, and he gets away with everything.
