15 Most Controversial Movie Moments Of 2014

4. Godzilla's Limited Screen Time - Godzilla

Gareth Edwards took the minimalism of his 2010 indie creature feature Monsters and transplanted it onto a big budget reboot of everyone's favourite city wrecker, Godzilla. Whether you thought Edwards succeeded, however, depended largely on how much of the titular beast you were hoping to see. For the majority of the movie, Godzilla is kept firmly under wraps, with Edwards lending more screen time to his natural rivals, the MUTOs. A brief airport showdown teases audiences at the mid-way point, but they have a long time to wait to get a prolonged look at Godzilla in the epic battle at the end of the movie. To some, it was just too little, too late, especially considering that Bryan Cranston gets wiped out in the first act of the movie, and Aaron-Taylor Johnson's Ford Brody just wasn't interesting enough to make the human element work. To others, the minimalism was refreshing, and Edwards therefore made every second of the monster's screen time count.
