Of all the controversy stirred up by David Fincher's savage thriller, the one moment that audiences and the press couldn't stop discussing was the infamous shower scene. The particulars of the scene plot-wise aren't important in this context, but as Ben Affleck's protagonist Nick Dunne steps into the shower, his penis is briefly visible for around half a second. As soon as the film began screening for press, reports of this unexpected nudity began to circulate, yet the shot is so fleeting and murkily shot that it's incredibly easy to miss, and as such many swore foul that it was all a bunch of fuss over nothing. Now that the movie is available on VOD platforms, screen grabs and GIFs have flooded the Internet, proving beyond all doubt that Affleck does indeed bare all in the scene. Was it necessary? Absolutely not. Was it brave? Unquestionably.
