2. The Creation Sequence - Noah

Darren Aronofsky's Noah courted controversy long before it even came out, with speculation running rampant about how the director would interpret the Old Testament text.

While the depiction of Noah as a drunk and the transformation of the story into a Lord of the Rings-esque action adventure flick both proved divisive, it's the technically stunning Creation scene which stirred up the most arguments.

The sequence, easily the best scene in the film, shows the beginning of life by way of the Big Bang, a CGI time lapse which then appears to depict the process of evolution, all while Noah tells the biblical story of Creation. It is in fairness a relatively pragmatic approach to the material, but that didn't stop religious fundamentals from expressing their disgust at science being melded with faith.
