15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy Batman Movies
7. The Villains' Plans Are Elaborate To The Point That They Are Doomed To Fail
Villains in the Batman movies are known for their crazy schemes. It's part and parcel of the franchise's makeup - over-the-top plots to destroy either Gotham or Batman himself. Once established, audiences must then pretend this isn't ridiculous.
Take the villains in Nolan's trilogy, namely Ra's al Ghul, the Joker, and Bane, who spend so much time coming up with elaborate schemes and plans to inflict havoc on the citizens of Gotham that they actually end up making no sense at all.
Think about it: if Ra's al Ghul really wanted Gotham to tear itself apart, why didn't he just plant an explosive in every huge building and detonate them all at once? You know, instead of his crazy scheme involving a Microwave Emitter, the city's monorail system, and a deadly toxin. How did he expect that to end well?
And don't get me started on the Joker's scheme in The Dark Knight, which relies on a series of random events and coincidences to fall into place at exactly the right time (such as a police officer getting into a cell with him) in order for it to work.
Then there's Bane's plan to bankrupt Gotham, which any Wall Street advisor will tell you is utter tosh: trading would be halted worldwide the moment that the stock exchange was hi-jacked.
