If somebody you knew put on a mask that concealed just the top half of their face, chances are that you'd realise it was them after a few seconds. Human beings are pretty good at picking up these things, after all. You see the shape of the mouth, the lips, and the jaw, and your brain makes a connection.

Not in the world of Batman movies, though. For some reason, every single human who inhabits this twisted version of Earth is incapable of recognising one half of Bruce Wayne's face, even when he's right up close to them.
