Consensus: "While it does represent a new foray into raunch for the normally PG-13 Sandler, That's My Boyfinds him repeating himself to diminishing effect - and dragging Andy Samberg down with him."

A modern Adam Sandler film that doesn't suck? Yes, really.

That's My Boy is widely loathed and some even describe it as one of the worst films ever made due to its offensive content, which includes a teacher-pupil relationship, incest and all your typical R-rated comedy offensiveness.

To be honest, everyone completely over-reacted; this is no more offensive than other studio comedies and, in contrast to films such as Movie 43, it delivers the controversial material in a light-hearted way and counter-balances it with niceness and warmth, so it's really not that bad.

Admittedly, TMB isn't massively funny, but as a drama it's pleasantly surprising. The story of Donny (Sandler) reconnecting with his son is actually quite sweet and Donny's transformation from alcoholic slacker to a more responsible father feels genuine and reasonably well-done.

This certainly stands tall above most of Sandler's recent films. All the Razzie nods were because the Razzies love picking on Adam Sandler, not because the actual film was that bad.
