15 Deeply Tasteless Films That Will Offend Everyone

9. Norbit

Eddie Murphy is a talented man (just watch his stand-up comedy) with real comedy chops, so it's baffling that he actually thought it'd be a good idea to do this right after his Oscar-nominated turn in Dreamgirls.

While the Oscar-nominated make-up effects are admittedly superb, on every other level Norbit is one of the worst comedies since 2000. Except, 'comedy' isn't really the accurate term since this film is essentially a woman physically and psychologically tormenting her husband (Murphy) for an entire movie and domestic abuse is never, ever funny.

As Rasputia (Murphy in a fat-suit), the monstrous wife, relentlessly bullies and mistreats her husband, the film becomes genuinely depressing to watch and, being a film that turns the torment of a decent man into comedic spectacle, it almost feels like Torture-Porn.

It's also incredibly racist and sexist. Eddie Murphy's third role in the film (he won Razzies for all three) as an elderly Chinese man veers close to Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's territory, while Rasputia reflects many negative stereotypes of overweight people, black women and is generally a misogynistic creation. Why was Eddie Murphy so happy to fill his own movie (he co-wrote it) with such offensive stereotypes of African-Americans?
