The antagonists of slasher films who have kept our hearts pounding, brows sweaty and hands shaking for so many years could quite easily occupy the vast majority of this list. Indeed, it is the despicable actions of these oft-supernatural baddies which drives the narrative of the entire film so it should come as no surprise that slasher films and deranged psychopaths always come hand in hand. However, in the interest of variety we have chosen one champion to represent the genre in our minds there is nobody more suitable than Halloweens Michael Myers. The very opening frames of Halloween see director John Carpenter masterfully establishing the depravity of the unsympathetic killer who would inspire a whole franchise of God-awful sequels. Heightening our disgust at Myers actions, we are shown him murdering his older sister with a kitchen knife through his own eyes, making great use of the new Steadycam technology. The fact that he committed this atrocity at just 6-years-old makes it clear that we are dealing with one of the most twisted figures in the history of cinema. Time doesnt remedy Myers psychotic stats. Fifteen years after this sickening prologue the now-looming Michael Myers shows no sign of redemption or reformation indeed, as he hunts Jamie Lee Curtis around suburbia, it is clear that Halloweens antagonist has become exponentially more evil.
