15 Devastating Pixar Movie Moments That Made You Cry
12. Andy Passes His Friends On To Bonnie - Toy Story 3
Pretty much the single defining narrative thread in the Toy Story franchise is the threat of growing up and losing both innocence and child-like joy in life, which we see as Andy sadly grows out of his toys.
Toy Story 3 begins with the hint that Andy still has a lot of affection for his remaining toys - even as his mother pressures him to get rid of them - but it's still inevitable that they'll lose their beloved owner by the end of the film. That - the film says - is just a part of life.
Even so, the moment when it finally happens is one of the most poignant in the entire series as we watch Andy realise that it's best for his toys (and for Bonnie) if he moves on. It's the ultimate expression of letting something you love go free.
