15 Early Predictions For 2019 Oscars

12. Best Original Song: Mary Poppins Returns

Mary Poppins Returns Emily Blunt

Not exactly a bold prediction here, but considering that the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel has the legendary Lin-Manuel Miranda onboard - who has three Grammys, an Emmy, three Tonys and even a freaking Puliter Prize to his name - there's pretty much no reality where the musical fantasy film doesn't land at least one Best Original Song nomination, and probably at least two.

More to the point, if the early buzz is to be believed, the film is a loving follow-up, and should be able to easily coast on audience nostalgia for the 1964 original even if it's merely decent.

The movie's new original songs are still under wraps, of course, but there's no way songwriters Marc Shaiman and five-time Oscar nominee Marc Shaiman don't have some show-stoppers up their sleeves.
