15 Early Predictions For 2019 Oscars
11. Best Supporting Actor: Timothée Chalamet (Beautiful Boy)
Though there was a passionate campaign for Timothée Chalamet to win a Best Actor Oscar this year for Call Me by Your Name, the power of Gary Oldman ultimately won out.
However, Chalamet may very well correct this next year after starring as a young meth addict in drama Beautiful Boy, opposite his screen father Steve Carell.
In the Best Supporting Actor category, Chalamet will have to defeat the likes of Guy Pearce (Mary Queen of Scots), Sam Rockwell (Backseat) and Corey Stoll (First Man), but there may very well be a sentiment that he "deserves" it after coming so close last year.
Plus, the supporting race is always less intense than the lead competition - where he'll be less likely to be robbed by an overdue actor like Gary Oldman - so he's got a far better chance here.
