15 Early Predictions For 2019 Oscars
8. Tiffany Haddish & Maya Rudolph Will Host
Considering that 2017 was the year of #MeToo, it was pretty weird that Jimmy Kimmel still hosted this year's Oscars. It would've made a tremendous amount of sense for a woman to host the show, a point made even clearer when Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph took to the stage to present the Best Documentary Short Subject and Best Live Action Short Film awards.
The pair had easy, relaxed chemistry to the point that a fan campaign immediately started for them to host next year's show. Honestly, it just might happen. Haddish would probably be a little too scatter-brained to host the whole show on her own, but having a more straight-laced partner-in-crime like Rudolph would help keep things on an even keel.
In terms of celebrating diversity, and considering how only five of the last 20 Oscar ceremonies have been hosted by women, it totally needs to happen. Given that Oscar ratings once again declined to their lowest-ever numbers this year, what do they have to lose?
