15 Essential Batman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies
5. The Court Of Owls
Why He's Awesome
Though they only debuted in 2011, the nefarious, mysterious group calling themselves The Court Of Owls have been the biggest new villains introduced in Batman comics for some team. They also perfectly suit the idea of Batman as a sort of dark people's champion, fighting the corrupt elite classes, given that they are an elite intent on retaining power at any cost and by any means.
Their chief power is their money and their use of the immortal assassins group the Talons, wiping out any who threaten to expose or dethrone them. In that respect, the two-tiered dynamic would mean we could get a story testing both Batman's detective skills to uncover the Court, and his fighting skill to beat off the Talons.
How Likely Is He?
At the minute, too many superhero movies are overly concerned with corporate and community collateral damage that make superheroes accountable for their actions, but the shift to explore corrupt elite and politicians in Netflix's Marvel shows has shown the way for its competitors. That idea of ruling classes being morally corrupt, and Batman taking them down is a great idea, but whether we can move away from the more garish villains being adopted of late remains to be seen.
Ironically, though, this would have made a perfect fourth film for Christopher Nolan. 5/10
