15 Essential Batman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies
8. Solomon Grundy
Why He's Awesome
Like Blackfire, Solomon Grundy is a wholly different prospect to every other Batman villain. He's undead, for a start, having been murdered in the 19th century and brought back to life thanks to the magical properties of the swamp his cadaver was dumped in and has super-strength and immortality to set him apart from other zombies.
He's also a key part of the excellent The Long Halloween story, which definitely needs to be made (think DC will take the hint?), striking up a partnership with Harvey Dent as he plots the downfall of Sal Maroni for the acid attack that turns him into Two-Face. That alone is reason to want to see him on film.
Is the world ready for Batman vs the immortal super-zombie? You bet your ass it is. But is the DCEU...?
How Likely Is He?
At the minute, you'd have to suggest that he's the kind of odd-ball who would most likely suit an appearance in a Suicide Squad sequel. Whether that is right or not remains to be seen.
He's also suit a film with multiple Bat-villains - such as the mooted Arkham Asylum soft adaptation Ben Affleck may or may not be working on. As an inmate of Arkham, he's definitely the right kind of sideshow freak to populate a cell without having to delve too far into his backstory. As a stand-alone though, right now the DCEU is not ready to explore the undead. 3/10
