15 Essential Batman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies

9. Deacon Blackfire

Why He's Awesome

Not all supervillains need to be grotesque, otherworldly creations with superstrength and laser-beam eyes. Some can be just as compelling wielding little more than their corrupting influence, like Deacon Blackfire, Gotham City's most famous cult leader, who built an army in the city's sewers, started a violent war on crime and took over the place entirely.

Most impressively of all, he also indoctrinated Batman and took him in as a cult follower, before the Dark Knight broke his conditioning and took him down. Considering the symbolism of power and fear in the movies, he'd be the perfect foil for Batman.

Plus, cultish, charismatic blonde leaders are pretty hot right now, so he's a great shout for a movie...

How Likely Is He?

Right now, he's probably too much like small-fry compared to other possibilities. But Deacon Blackfire would actually be the smartest villain to introduce in the wake of the Justice League movies: he's the kind of smaller scale parasite who would feed off the general unrest caused in normal society by superheroes bringing their wars to Earth. He would actually have slotted in perfectly alongside the post-superhero commentary of Batman v Superman in the wake of the destruction of Metropolis too, but that ship has sailed.

Unfortunately, don't count on him. 2/10
